Two fics by Iocane

I hope this is okay - it's two fics I posted some while back that seem to fit the description of this community to a T so I hope it's okay that I'm reposting them here. The first is more 'ordinary moments' since I wrote it specifically to highlight the mundane things that would have to go on to keep Atlantis running. (And looking nice) The second is eight or nine understated quiet little moments like checking one's e-mail and having tea with a companion in the morning.

Buried under a pile of leftovers ...

Some random ... things.

1. Real mashed potatoes taste way better than instant.

2. When properly motivated, my ponytail is now long enough to smack me in the face.

3. My grandmother's final disbursment of her estate is finally on its way, in theory.

4. Mom wanted to buy a new plasma flat screen TV with some of it.

5. I pointed out that the TV we have is fine (and big) and convinced her that a washer/dryer combo to be installed in the kitchen (rather than the basement with outside-only access) is a much better use of the money.

6. She agreed.

7. I'm almost ready to declare my jewelry site done. For now.

8. I'm struck with the desire to watch the uncut version of Dune.

9. Mrs. Henderson Presents is a great movie. I adore Judi Dench, though I'm not used to a more slender Bob Hoskins.

10. I've been staying offline (not checking mail or LJ or going onto any chat thing) the last week and change because it's entirely too distracting for someone trying desperately to update her website and reorganize her workstation.

Alphameme

Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal, and give out some letters of your own.

I was given the letter S.

In no particular order ...

1.) Slash - Mostly with the man-love but I like the occasional bit of femslash. Sometimes it's about how pretty the men are but usually it's about the relationships they seem to have on screen. Those little moments where everything is said or not said.

2.) Silence - This might be odd for those who know how much I love to talk, but many of you also know how hard of hearing I am. When there's no sound, I'm not missing anything.

3.) Silliness - I just love all manner of goofing off, playing around, joking, jokes, having fun, making fun - anything that makes me or others (especially others) laugh.

4.) Sleeep - It's this thing that happens when I close my eyes and when I open them it's a while later and I usually feel better.

5.) Stupidity - If it wasn't for stupid people doing stupid things, I wouldn't have nearly as much stuff to mock, now would I?

6.) Stargate: Atlantis - Sadly no part of Rodney's name starts with S and I don't like Sheppard enough to give him his own line. But yes, Atlantis is really just the coolest show.

7.) Sylvester and Maxine - My kitties. They're not Monkeyface, but they're still lovely kitties who enjoy trying to sufficate me in my sleep. They're also big with that kneading thing. Nothing says love like a paw to the eyeball.

8.) Sex - Yeah. Moving on!

9.) Sweets - Candy, tea with too much sugar, cakes, I love it all. I'm trying to be better, but doesn't change the fact that I adore it to bits.

10.) Segues - Which is a good excuse for me to plug my jewelry site!

Open for business!

Some of you have heard me talking(bitching/whining/complaining/etc) about the jewelry I've been making and more specifically the site I've been trying to get up and running. It's hard to believe that I've been making jewelry for a year now.

Shiny happy spiffy neato keen

I found a new feature on my laptop today. I can now take the litle film disk out of the digital camera and insert it into my laptop and voila, piccies!

Baseball Cards

I got the idea for these ages ago when writing Final Moments ... I knocked off three of them a while back and recently redid them, and made a full team. Fronts only, no backs. These I showed to
